Pardon me, can you spare a planet?
Earth is Your Home
It’s been 45 years since Neal Young sang “Look at Mother Nature on the run in the 1970s.” By now there’s no excuse for ignorance and no more time for inaction. We’re through pleading for your attention.
It takes a long lead time to turn a big ship like ours about. And we blew it.
It needed to start years ago. The changes to Earth have begun. Bigger changes are already in motion. So now civic responsibility means something different. There is a new order for human inhabitants of this globe.
No intelligent species survives by fouling its own nest. The ones that will survive us already instinctively know this basic fact. And we call them less advanced.
Citizenship 101: Ten Commandments
- There is no more time for climate change deniers. Debate’s over.
- Denial of planet change is accessory to mass murder.
- To value your country more than your planet is to love your country more than your family.
- Resource consumption must decrease, and decreasing the birth rate is mission-critical. We control population or the planet will do it for us.
- Actions to prevent further impacts must be mandatory, immediate and unrelenting. There was no way to see this coming during the “Age of Reason” when most of our rights were conceived. There is no right nor reason to further a catastrophic process.
- Observe religion if you will, but our planet comes first. If you think global warming is God’s will, feel free to martyr yourself but don’t mess with the rest of us.
- Demand that leaders lead on this issue or get out of the way.
- Nationhood is unwieldy in this matter; strong action must occur on a global, coordinated scale.
- Ethnic rivalries and conflict are destructive distractions. We don’t have time for them.
- Earth destruction is a hate crime.
Keep your eye on the ball. Don’t look away or we all get beaned.
All deliberate speed!
