No More Nice-Nice on Mass Extinction

This is an endeavor to send a message to the people who will ultimately make or break the climate change crisis we have entered.

The people who can look up with an open and logical mind can see and react to the danger that our resource-burning economies and uneven living standards are imposing on all people.

“Stop  looking away,” writes Naomi Klein. Any animal with an ounce of sense detects approaching danger to its survival, to the survival of its children. And it fights with everything it’s got to overcome that danger.

Except where large numbers of people continue to believe their species can will its control over the actions of celestial objects like planets. Earth’s life-giving platform, surrounded by remnants of the atmosphere that formed it, is not eternal. It’s reacting in its own way to natural forces. Ultimately, our punishment may fit our crime.

It depends on which element wins out: Primitive thinking offered by people who dress well and have no vision beyond the immediate, or those who understand and are willing to make changes that are necessary. The farther removed from natural forces we are in our lives, the bigger those changes will be.

Using the same intelligence that brought us — unknowingly at first — to this point in history, we can understand its limits, act, and that history can continue.

But this can no longer be a request.  It’s a tough world out there, and humans don’t control it.
